Schlage Primus ®  patent protected key

One of the most difficult decisions facing building management today is how to maintain security and eliminate unauthorized key duplication. Solutions to these problems are often expensive and require the total replacement of all cylinders in order to regain key control. Schlage, a world leader in security, answers this challenge with the Primus High Security Cylinder System. Designed for facilities where security and key control are of utmost importance, Primus cylinders offer an effective, yet flexible solution.

Security. The secret to this system is the Primus key with its unique patented "side-bit milling". Only the Schlage factory cuts the side-bit milling on special key blanks. These special key blanks are issued to specific Certified Primus Centers for duplication of keys. The result is control against unauthorized key duplication

Flexibility. The Primus product line includes a choice of two types of security cylinders. The U.L. 437 Listed 20-500 High Security Series and the 20-700 Controlled Access Series. Each is completely compatible with the other and may be keyed into the same masterkey system and operated by a single Primus key. In addition, the Primus key will also operate most Schlage standard cylinders, while keys that operate standard cylinders will not enter a Primus keyway. Thus, upgrading your existing lock system to meet your changing needs is easy and affordable.

Patent Protected Primus Key. One of the most important aspects of a high security cylinder is key control. Each Primus key goes through our patented "side-bit milling" process on specially designed machinery.
